"Even if you go for it and it doesn't work out, you still win. You still had the guts enough to head straight into something that frightened you. That type of bravery will take you places." -Evan Sanders
Hosting my first ever Spring mini-sessions was a new experience in my business. I was nervous, yet excited to try something new. From finding a booking site, and encountering errors along the way, to finding a great location, and learning "studio" setups; I accomplished it! Not to mention the fear of the possibility of NO ONE signing up! Nonetheless, I had 4 lovely families come out to Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden to spend a Saturday afternoon with me. The weather wasn't ideal, but my families embraced the day. Thank you to Klehm, my amazing friend Jon who helped me during the sessions, and my lovely families that supported my new endeavor! Here are a few of my favorites from the day. Enjoy!
Working with Tracy Tignino of Tracy Joy Photography was an absolute privilege! Her passion for styled child photography as well as building other photographers up, shined through every word she spoke! Meeting other like minded creatives who not only have a successful business of their own but want to see other people succeed is an absolute gift! When I first started in photography, I was so intimidated to reach out to other photographers in fear of rejection. Once I took that brave first step, and the more I pursue people I admire, the more I find that people want to help people. It's a beautiful experience! Thank you, Tracy, for sharing your tips and tricks and being an amazing teacher and mentor! Here are some of the photos that I took during my time with Tracy at the Reset Conference. Enjoy!
Senior Portrait Photography is one of my favorite genres in Photography. It's an exciting time in a young adults life. A new direction in their lives that will possibly lead to amazing opportunities. In my experience, working with Seniors has always been fun and easy. They are excited to be in front of the camera documenting where they are at the present moment. The growth and change they experienced in High School, as well as the excitement for what their future holds. I love hearing about what they will be pursuing, and the hopes and dreams they have for their future.
Learning from Christina Ramirez helped me discover new ways to engage with seniors, and how to bring out their personalities to document this exciting and important time in their lives. Here are a few more photos I captured during my time at The Reset Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana! Happy Friday, friends!
Learning from photographer Christina Ramirez was such a gift. Not only was the information that she shared easy to understand, her outgoing personality was so attractive that I instantly wanted to be her friend. One of my biggest struggles with breaking into the photography industry was putting my own self-doubt aside to reach out to other creatives to share, collaborate, mentor, and learn from. Attending The Reset Conference, and working with other professionals like Christina, put so much of that self-doubt to bed. I received reassurance that there are many people in this industry that want to pour into newbies like myself to build my passion; to see my success.
Here are just a few of the photos I took during the HS Senior shootout. When I say "a few," I mean these don't even scratch the surface. I'll be blogging more photos of this beautiful young lady, as well as the second model we worked with. Enjoy, and Happy Friday!
Over the weekend, while attending The Reset Conference I had the opportunity to participate in a shootout hosted by the amazingly talented AND kind, Robin Hansen. Robin recruited a family that she knew to be our models. It was a very chilly Friday evening, but the kids were such troopers. Robin shared tips and tricks that she uses during her family sessions. It was a great opportunity to watch her work. I love when creatives share what works, what doesn't and gives encouragement to all levels of small business owners. Here are a few of my favorite photos from that evening. You'll even get to see a few behind the scenes shots!
